Roaming Computing System (Windows Edition) 3 - Zotero OpenOffice plugin
Contents
Description
OpenOffice plugin for Zotero, from www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_integration. Comes as a Firefox extension that includes a Java program that installs a .oxt file into OpenOffice on a per-user basis. When each user first runs Firefox, it runs the installer.
During normal use the Zotero OpenOffice extension requires Firefox to be running in order for it to work.
Thoughts on ths installation process
zoteroOpenOfficeIntegration.js → zoteroOpenOfficeIntegration.jar - do these just run unopkg, which we could do ourselves? or do they replace uno_pkg? or do something different to uno_pkg? Is this required because more integration within OpenOffice is required for Zotero than is possible via a .oxt? they could create a .exe, perhaps that's why they use a Firefox extension, because it's cross-platform.
Why do they not use OpenOffice's extension manager? Do they only use Firefox's extension manager because it provides an easier delivery mechanism where you click on a .xpi on the web and it offers to be installed, where as it doesn't for .oxt? Can we instead install the .oxt directly into OpenOffice ourselves, rather than via Firefox?

| Configuration | The Zotero toolbar items in OpenOffice are too many and put in too prominent a location, better to move them to the bottom right where only the 2 most important features show and the rest are available from a drop-down. |
