Configure workstation software - summary and time estimations
This is only a synopsis. Do the actual installation from the Roaming Computing System Workstation Operating System and Software Application Installation and Configuration document
upgrade firmware on applicable hardware [time: 10 minutes per workstation that requires it]
configure optimum BIOS options (see documentation at http://thegoldenear.org/toolbox/windows/docs/bios/bios-config.html) [time: 5 minutes per workstation]
wipe the hard disk (with Partition Magic) [time: 10 minutes per workstation]
install operating system [time: 30 minutes per workstation (it may take longer but more than one can be installed at a time)]
install operating system upgrade(s) (IE5.5 SP2, cumulative rollup package, etcetera) [time: 5 minutes per workstation]
install device drivers for all hardware (time assumes they have a CD-ROM attached and allows for a little amount of time for installation to be occasionally troublesome) [time: 20 minutes per workstation]
introduce to the Windows Domain [time: 1 minute per workstation]
install any other software that may be required to be installed locally on every workstation (as per http://thegoldenear.org/toolbox/windows/docs/windows/win-2k-pro-software-installation.html) [time: perhaps 30 minutes per workstation]
all major applications [time: 20 minutes per workstation]
configure networking components [time: 5 minutes per workstation]
install any application-specific software or parts of software (including any dirty-hacks to get software that isn't so comfortable in this environment to work) [time: ? per workstation]
configure operating system
