Notes: there are four PGP concepts to understand:
  • Public key - other people or yrself encrypt with yr public key so only you can read it
  • Private key - you use this to de-encrypt messages encrypted to your public key (by someone else, or yrself)
  • Digital signature - describes who the PGPed message is from
  • Hash function - makes sure the message hasnt changed since it was encrypted by the poriginal author
